Drill team
This is a complimentary event and is not mandatory.
Drill team is open for those Cadets who wish to be part of a Drill Team to learn
What should you wear?
Civilian attire – must be comfortable.
What do you need to bring?
Drill Boots and FTU boots – Cadets will not wear crocks!
If Cadets have running shoes, they can bring those as well.
Each cadet should bring a small notepad and a pen or pencil
Cadets will need to bring a boot polishing kit
- Black shoe polish
- brush
- applicator
- polish cloth
- old tooth-brush
- nylons for buffing
- Newspaper to polish your boots over
What will you learn?
Drill – either with Drill Rifles or not, and to prepare a silent freestyle demonstration for about 5 and half minutes
What are the goals?
Create a competition drill team, build a base of cadets that will know how to do drill and pass on that knowledge – part of leadership building
The Team will start polishing both FTUs and Drill Boots every drill practice
How long is the training for?
Mondays 1830 to 2000 for now, every 2 weeks, though ideally it should be every week
When is competition?
CoC dictates when there is a competition, but the drill team competition can be formal or informal, and it can also be a demonstration at the ACR.
Is there a break?
Breaks as needed
Cadets should bring a snack – they can they should bring water
Will there be music?
Music not at this time – but a combined Band and Drill Team demo could be thought of – have not seen this very often, as the Drill team and Band have separate competitions
